Silver Cholla - Opuntia  echinocarpa
Lizard Flora and Fauna
Living in the Desert Southwest [Sonorran Desert], one has the opportunity to plant some pretty diverse foliage.  Also keep some unique pets.
This tiny little cactus on the left is only about 2 inches tall.  The flower are probably not even 1/3  of and inch.  The Nikon gets a good close shot when set in the proper mode.

Alo vera Bloom
Left - the Silver Cholla is a pretty nasty cactus but not near as bad as the "jumping" variety known as the Teddy Bear Cholla.

Right - Alo Vera Bloom.  This plant is extremely hardy and can grown just about every where.  Just dig up portions of it as it spreads and you have instant greenery.

Yes flowers are planted and although they are out of scale - they add vibrancy and color to the layout.
Trying to find scale trees that survive the harsh summers is very difficult. One that does very well is the cypress tree.  Although these can hardly be considered dwarf trees - they can grow slow in the direct sun and you don't water them much. I do have one that is getting about 5 ft.  Time to trim it down.
Shrubbery.  No white picket fence.  If you get what i am trying to say here then you also know about chopping down the largest tree in the forest with a Haddock.
