Despite the fact that almost the whole Podwojski family wound up with some intentestinal stomach bug {save for the CEO of L.A.R.R.} - the event managed to come off with very few delibitating events.
A conversation about ponds/rocks/cement mix went something like this...
Pod: "I want to make a waterfall and a pond....Have any of you guys used that concrete recipe?  Gallpoota?  uh, Galapoolooza? Errr...Gallipoli?  {Duncan salutes me}

General Group:  "What are you talking about?"

Pod: "There was an article in the latest GR...I can't think of the name of the mix....Galaplata?

John J: "I never heard of it."

Pod: "Of course not, you're out in the desert, hunting rocks and using that secret "rock bait" that you won't tell us about.  Your just sit out there selecting which rock has the best rack...:

Duncan: "The rock with the biggest chest?"

Pod: "No - rack as in Bullwinkle antlers.......you know how hunters pass up a buck because it doesn't have big antlers {Pod is making antlers with his hands}...ferget it....let me go get that GR mag!  {Pod comes back with mag}.

Pod: "Here it is...the name of that mix is called 'Gulapata'!"

Brandy: Oh yeah - use it all the time!

Duncan: Of course, why didn't you say that in the first place!

Paul Geiske - arriving fashionably late with his Shay #5.  Because he brought his Shay - we didn't give him too much grief.  And there was plenty of grief being handed out!
Nice weather too!  No one was sweating.  The temp never got higher than 93 and by sundown - it was very pleasent!
Here is an unaltered portion of the above photo of Paul's Shay.  The new Nikon I have is a 5 megpixel camera.  The "normal" setting cranks out photos that are 2 meg.  The Shay's truck was just "cut out" and pasted into a new image....

This is what makes the Shay such a great live steam loco - the gears.  This engine can't run away from you.  It has a great and steady pace.  Ya gotta love it!
Yep - everyone was sick so Mom Pod took the kids to my mother in laws house.  It was the best move as Debbie, Duncan and Barry [Barry Olsen of Barry's Big Trains } can attest.  Below you see John J., Brandy, Debbie Duncan and Mike's wife...

John J did bring a wonderful tasking desert.  Sorry Stan Cedarleaf wasn't there to enjoy it!  We had the Chili, ton of sandwich meat, pasta & potato salid, great cantalope/watermelon fruit bowl, etc. etc.   I was stuffed!
John J doesn't looked impressed with the #5....  ;-)
